Abstract

Within the framework of the 3rd-phase Practicum of our undergraduate studies, we were asked to create two short films of educational value, which would be utilized in a lesson we would design based on the "Flipped Classroom". This approach, established by Baker (2016) and promoted by Bergmann & Sams (2008), essentially places the lecture before the lesson, primarily through videos watched at home, so that all in-class time can be utilized for student-centered activities on the topic of the lecture (Botsoglou, 2024). The main theme of the film selected from the two to be screened at the 1st EduVideo Festival is the Palace of Knossos. More specifically, it analyzes the structure of the palace, the functions it served, its decoration and architecture, as well as the hierarchy observed there. The film was utilized within the context of the practicum at a school in Rhodes, for the 3rd-grade primary school History course. The central objective set was for the students to become acquainted with the architecture and basic elements regarding the presence of the Palace of Knossos. For the creation of the video, certain techniques and media were utilized, such as a green screen and the professional cameras of the Laboratory of Psychology, Educational Research and Media in Education.
