Abstract

rtificial intelligence, as it emerged during the last few years in the form of natural language systems, has brought about immense transformations within an extraordinarily short period of time, across various sectors, not only in the scientific, economic, and institutional domains, but also in the intellectual and cultural landscape. In the past, major scientific breakthroughs, such as the Galilean worldview, passed through long stages of appropriation, resistance, controversy, and gradual consolidation before becoming accepted as scientific revolutions that opened new horizons in the understanding of reality. In the digital age, however, the diffusion of artificial intelligence has taken place at an overwhelming speed. Critical reflection and philosophical disagreement are of course not absent from this process of adaptation. On the contrary, they permeate the entire spectrum of intellectual life, including the sciences, the humanities, and the arts. This special issue seeks to explore aspects of this vigorous dialogue.
