Author Biography
Antonio Gargia-Ferrer, University de Madrid
Dr. Antonio Garcia-Ferrer is a native Spanish. He moved to Madrid
at the age of eightand attendedprivate schools until he completed
his Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the Universidad Autonoma
de Madrid in 1973. In 1977, he received his Ph.D. in Agricultural
Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a
senior staff member of the department of Agricultural Economics at
the High Center of Scientific Research and Assistant Professor at
the Department of Economics at the University of Madrid. He has
conducted researchand published several articles and books (either
in collaboration or by his own) dealingprimarily with regional and
international development, agricultural development and applied
econometrics. He is a member of the American Economic Review,
the American Journal ofAgricultural Economis, the Journal of
Development Economics and the Econometric Society. At this mo­
ment, he is involved in a very exhaustive project about the conse­
quences of international migrations in Europe in collaboration with
the University of California at Davis.
