Abstract

The land of wisdom, both in Antiquity and in the Renaissance, is not located in some celestial place or in some natural cave carefully hidden, but it is completely accessible and visible to all and the entrance is open and unguarded. Every human passes by the wise man's house, but its simplicity and austerity do not attract the insatiable nature of desire, which is attached to matter. The dividing point between the wise man's room and the outside world is the threshold of the gate. The threshold is the invisible wall between wisdom and unwisdom, the symbolic impassable for the uninitiated in the higher rational process. However, what certainly does not approach the gate of wisdom is chance, that omnipotent deity, which governs human affairs. Where there is wisdom, there is no chance. The right reason and the order within the nature of the wise man do not allow any disturbance from the random factor.
