Food authenticity and national identity. Consumption patterns in the commercial micro-scale of the late Metapolitefsi period
Abstract
The aim of this article is to trace and interpret the consumer tendencies for food authenticity in the context of late metapolitefsi (2009 -) and Greece after its economic crisis. Below, it will become clear that both elements such as consumer hedonism, institutionalized individualization and the symbolic economy that developed in the years before the crisis, as well as the renegotiation and reconstruction of Greek identity and the «return to tradition» enhance consumer interest in authentic Greek
goods. The conclusions of this article can be typologically divided into the search for authenticity in relation to national identity and
in relation to individuality.
