Submissions

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Deltos is an open access journal, i.e. all content is available free of charge to users or their institutions. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link or use the full texts of articles for any other lawful purpose without first obtaining permission from the publisher or author. The only restriction is to protect the integrity of the author and the editor and their right to proper credit and citation. This is in line with the BOAI definition of Open Access.
Deltos publishes in English only*:
Original Scientific Articles not yet published in another language, Preliminary Communications, Review Articles. Letters to the Editor

Deltos also publishes book reviews (extending to publication not older than three years), reports and announcements of forthcoming medical history events (public lectures, book launches, scientific conferences) and recent relevant abstracts of papers given at congresses and conferences, not exceeding 500 words. It is the responsibility of the authors to ask the organisers of the event for permission. All submitted articles will be peer-reviewed under strict confidentiality and the author will be informed.
Specifications for writing style
All manuscripts must be double-spaced in Arial 12 font and should have margins of at least 2.5 cm. Original articles submitted should be between 4000 to 8000 words. The following sections should start on a new page: Title page, abstract, text, acknowledgements, Greek abstract, refer-
ences, tables, figures, figure titles and endnotes. All pages must be numbered in the upper right corner. The title page is considered as page 1. All manuscripts should be sent to:
Professor Athanasios Diamandopoulos,
Editor-in-Chief, 1453295@gmail.com
1. Title page.
This includes:
i. The title of the article. It should not exceed 15 words. No abbreviations are allowed in the title, except for the internationally recognised symbols.
ii. The names of the authors (surnames and initials).
iii. Place of work/institutional affiliation. If there is more than one author, indices must be used to indicate the affiliation of each author.
iv. 2-5 keywords in Greek (if applicable) and in English (min. 3, max. 6).
v. Address and telephone number of the corresponding author.
vi. Short title (up to 40 letters).
vii. Any support for the completion of the study.
2. Abstracts in English and Greek of 250-400 words should accompany reviews and research articles.
3. Texts will normally include:
(a) Introduction, (b) Material and methods, (c) Results, (d) Discussion, (e) Conclusions. Exceptionally, free text articles may be accepted on the basis of the material. All abbreviations must be written out the first time they appear in the text, even if this has already been done in the abstract. Internationally used symbols and abbreviations do not have to be written out (e.g. IgG, C3). Illustrations are accepted in high quality and in compliance with international copyright laws under the responsibility of the authors.
4. Acknowledgements should be inserted at the end of the manuscript before the references.
5. References.
They should follow the Vancouver style and are numbered and listed in the order in which they appear in the text. When authors' names are cited in the text, only the surnames should appear. If there are up to two authors, both names should appear with the word "and" between them; if there are more than two authors, only the name of the first appears, followed by "et al". The bibliography should have the following order: (a) authors' surnames and initials (no full stops after initials) if there are up to six authors. Do not use "and" before the last author's name. If there are more than six authors, only the first six authors should appear, followed by "et al"; (b) title; (c) abbreviation of the name of the journal as it appears in Index Medicus (do not use dots); the full name should be used if the journal is not indexed there; (d) year of publication; (e) issue or supplement number; (f) page number. Citations to book chapters should follow the Vancouver style.

* Authors who have difficulties with English or Greek language may contact the editor for assistance.
