Abstract
The “Noli Me Tangere” icon described in this paper is to be found on the SE wall of the church of Aghia Kyriaki Khoras on the island of Mykonos. Its original provenance is unknown; it was brought to its present location sometime between 1965 and 1982, perhaps for safekeeping. In 2009 it underwent treatment at the restoration facilities of the 2nd Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities.
The icon depicts the meeting between Jesus and Mary Magdalene after the Resurrection. Stylistic analysis and comparison to other works with a similar subject shows that the icon dates probably from the early part of the sixteenth century and was the work of a rather competent artist belonging to the Cretan school.Article Details
