Abstract

This article examines the pedagogical possibilities of combining linguistic and historical literacy, through the use of archival research and new technologies. Focusing on linguistic analysis and historical interpretation, the role of the text (primary or secondary) as a means of promoting critical thinking and historical empathy is highlighted. Indicatively, a teaching scenario based on the minutes of school meetings of the 1950s-1960s is proposed, where the concept of punishment functions as an occasion for studying the archive, reflecting, connecting with the present and drawing conclusions regarding the institutional framework and values of the era. Finally, in parallel with linguistic analysis and historical investigation, the proposal utilizes multimodal activities and ICT, focusing on the cultivation of multiliteracies and the transformation of the student into an active researcher.
