The Role of NGOs in Promoting Strategic & Security Studies in Greece: A Case Study of the Academic Landscape in Greece

Abstract
The study of Strategic & Security Studies – two scientific fields of the International Relations discipline – is of great importance as it not only enhances the overall geopolitical situational awareness but contributes to the establishment of a security culture as well. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the Hellenic Republic has established a multifaceted education system, the study of these two scientific fields has not been given enough attention in Greece as far as its institutional level is concerned. The purpose of this article is to highlight the important role of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in promoting the underdeveloped Strategic & Security Studies in Greece.
