Open Call

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to contribute to the inaugural issue of Ανθρωπολογίες/Anthropologies, the journal of the Association of Social Anthropologists of Greece (SKAE).

Ανθρωπολογίες/Anthropologies is an open-access journal published annually, featuring original works in Greek and English. It employs a double-anonymous peer review process and seeks to foster dialogue across diverse theoretical and methodological approaches while facilitating encounters between anthropologists and broader audiences.

The journal welcomes contributions in the following categories:

  1. Research Articles (between 6,000 and 8,000 words): Scholarly works that advance ethnographic knowledge and anthropological theory. These submissions undergo a double-anonymous peer review process.
  2. Multimedia/Multimodal Papers (up to 4,000 words): Contributions incorporating methodological tools and media such as video, photography, sound, etc., which will also be reviewed through a double-anonymous process.
  3. Essays (up to 3,000 words) and Commentaries (up to 1,500 words): Reflections on current issues, analyzed from an anthropological perspective.
  4. Encounters (up to 3,000 words): Interviews with anthropologists, as well as with professionals from other disciplines.
  5. Reviews (up to 2,000 words): Critical appraisals of books, films, doctoral theses, performances, exhibitions, music publications, and similar works.
  6. Translations: Previously published articles in languages other than Greek may be submitted for translation. 
  7. Special Issues: Curated by the editorial board or submitted as proposals to the board. Special issues consist of 4 to 6 articles and include an introductory piece authored by the guest editors.

The first issue of Ανθρωπολογίες/Anthropologies will be published on the National Documentation Center (EKT) platform in 2026. Ιndividual papers can be pre-published. The deadline for submissions for the first issue is 1 December 2025.
