Alternative Radiological Imaging in Scoliosis - Method Presentation
Abstract
Purpose: Presentation of an alternative method of radiological examination for the preoperative planning in a patient who will undergo surgical correction of scoliosis.
Method and Material: After a brief reference to the available techniques, the technique we apply in our hospital is presented.
Results: This particular technique is an acceptable solution and in combination with additional dynamic projections, where these are required, offers the attending physician sufficient data to proceed with correct pre-operative planning.
Conclusions: This alternative solution can replace the proposed techniques in cases where they are not available, while at the same time dramatically reducing the patient's exposure to radiation, which is of particular importance given the relatively young age of the patients.
