Rudi Schmiede

Dr. Rudi Schmiede, born 1946 in Western Germany, study οf social sciences in Frankfurt/Main and London, graduation in sociology in 1972 at Frankfurt University, Dr. phil. 1977 at Frankfurt University. Since 1972 research fellow at the Institut fur Sozia1forschung (Institute οf Social Research) at Frankfurt. Worked on the Marxian theory of accumulation and crisis and of economic state intervention, on the economic and social development of  Western Germany, on the historical  development of technology, work organization and payment systems in Germany, and on the history and theory of  trade unions in Germany. Presently engaged in a large scale study of the impact of economic crisis on the role and function of trade unions and work councils within the contemporary system of industrial relations in Western Germany
