Author Biography
Maria Malikiosi-Loisou

Maria Malikiosi-Lo'izou was born in Athens in 1947. She received
her B.A. in Psychology from Pierce College in Athens in 1970.
She continued her graduate studies in the United States where she
received her M.A. in Social Psychology (1974) and the degree 

of Doctor of Education in Counseling (1978). She has worked as
a research assistant in the psychology and counseling departments
of the University of Maine. Between 1976 and 1978 she worked as
a teaching assistant at the same University, teaching courses in
Developmental Psychology, Methodology, Basic Statistics, and
Educational Psychology. She has worked as a counselor
(internship) at the Counseling Center of the University of Maine.
She has been a Research Associate at the National Center of
Social Research since 1979. She has published several scientific articles
in Greek and foreign journals and is the author of: Locus of
Control Orientation and Occupational Stereotyping in American
and Greek Cultures (1974), Differential Supervision and Cognitive
Structure Effects on Empathy and Counseling Effectiveness
(1978), and Personality and Attitudes of Greek University Students
(in Greek) as co-author, Dr. Lynn R. Anderson being the senior
author of the book (1980). She is a Member of the Editorial Board
of The Journal of Mind and Behavior. She has participated in international
and Greek congresses and seminars and is a Member
of the American Psychological Association, International Council
of Psychologists, Greek Psychological Association, and others.
