CFP Special Issue Philosophy of Education and Theatre Pedagogy
Epistēmēs Metron Logos invites submissions for a forthcoming special issue dedicated to exploring the intersection of Philosophy of Education and Theatre Pedagogy. This special issue aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue between these two distinct fields, shedding light on their theoretical underpinnings, practical applications, and potential synergies.
Theatre Pedagogy, as a branch of education, encompasses the use of theatrical practices and techniques to enhance learning, personal development, and social interaction among students. It draws upon principles of drama, performance, and creative expression to create dynamic and engaging educational experiences. Philosophy of Education, on the other hand, delves into the fundamental questions and theories surrounding education, learning, and the nature of knowledge.
We welcome submissions that address the following topics, but are not limited to:
- Theoretical foundations of Theatre Pedagogy and its philosophical underpinnings.
- Epistemological implications of using theatrical approaches in education.
- The role of creativity, imagination, and embodiment in learning through theatre / drama.
- Ethical considerations and values education in Theatre Pedagogy.
- The use of theatre / drama as a tool for social justice and inclusivity in education.
- Pedagogical approaches and methodologies in theatre/ drama-based education.
- Dramatic play and empowerment environment.
- Inquiry drama and education.
- The impact of theatre / drama on cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Comparative studies between different dramatic approaches, methods and techniques.
- The interplay between theatre, drama, performance, and educational curricula.
- Historical perspectives on the integration of theatre / drama in educational settings.
We invite researchers, scholars, and practitioners from Philosophy of Education, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, and related disciplines to submit their original research articles. Contributions that combine theoretical frameworks with empirical case studies or practical applications are particularly encouraged.
Papers should not exceed 7000 words, including footnotes but excluding bibliography. References and bibliography must be formatted in accordance with the rules and conventions of APA, or any other style as long as consistency is maintained. The deadline for the submission of papers is 31 October 2023. All submissions will be reviewed by the guest editor of the issue and an external specialist referee.
