Abstract

The purpose of this arcticle is the comparative study of three historical novels that come

from both sides of the Aegean Sea and were introduced to the Greek reading public:

“The Age of Labyrinths” by Rea Galanaki, “The Children of War” by Ahmet Yorulmaz

and “My Crete” by Saba Altinsay. The research is enriched with the short story by Elli

Alexiou, entitled “Ibrahim’s Baba fountain”. All stories take place in Crete and their

main theme is the coexistence of Christians and Muslims, the Asia Minor catastrophe

and the subsequent exchange of populations. This research is based on the difference

in perspectives of the mentioned target groups.
