STUDY OF THE HARD FORMATIONS OF SOUTHERN FIELD MINE OF WESTERN MACEDONIA LIGNITE CENTER FOR 2003-2009
Résumé
The excavation of the hard formations of the overburden is one of the main problems of lignite exploitation in Southern Field Mine of Western Macedonian Lignite Center. These hard formations consist of sandstones, conglomerates and silts. Since their excavation is difficult with bucket wheel excavators, blasting and diesel equipment is used. These formations have been deposited in three different geological periods and can be described according to their colour in red, yellow and green series. Red strata contains 38% of hard formations, the yellow strata contains 49% hard formations and the green strata contains 2%. The total content of the overburden in hard rocks is 26.2%.
