About the Journal


Focus and Scope

HAPSc Policy Briefs Series is an international Open Access scientific journal, published by the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists (HAPSc). It aims at the comprehensible and coherent publication of information on current issues, as well as at the exchange of interdisciplinary approaches for the analysis and provision of policy proposals. This biannual publication aims to develop interdisciplinary and multilingual dialogue by providing summaries of relevant research, suggesting possible policy options or presenting specific actions, measures and policies. The journal uses the system of double-blind peer review. There are no submission or publication fees for the authors, as the journal is entirely funded by the Hellenic Association of Political Scientists.

The National Documentation Centre (www.ekt.gr) is a national infrastructure. Since 1980, it actively engages in the collection, organization and dissemination of scientific and technological information in Greece and internationally. EKT’s strategic priority is the aggregation, organized online dissemination and preservation of quality-assured scholarly and educational content in a single research infrastructure.

EKT’s vision is “Access to Knowledge”. To this end it implements Open Access policies in research, supports the transfer and dissemination of scientific knowledge, collaborates with research, education and cultural institutions for the aggregation, organization and dissemination of digital content and provides innovative services in scientific information.

EKT provides reliable ePublishing services as part of its scholarly content aggregation and dissemination activities . Its integrated online ePublishing environment is developed with open-source interoperable technology. This affords the incorporation of EKT’s infrastructures into the continuously developing international infrastructure environment.

EKT’s ePublishing services (http://epublishing.ekt.gr/) are directed to public and extended public institution publishers of accredited scholarly journals. They include, most significantly, the organization, documentation and organized dissemination of metadata and content of scholarly journals, the training and consulting services on issues such as intellectual property, the standardization of editorial processes according to internationally accepted standards, the inclusion of content and metadata in international content indexers and harvesters via interoperable systems.

  1. The Laboratory of Health Economics and Management (LabHEM), which was founded in June 2015 in the Economics Dept. of the University of Piraeus. The Laboratory of Health Economics and Management specializes in the areas of Health Economics, Health Services Research and Health Care Management. The principal scientific team consists of academics from the fields of Health Economics, Economics, Management, Strategy, Health Informatics, Pharmacy and Medicine.
  2. The Public Policy and Administration Research Laboratory (LABDIPOL) of University of Crete, which was founded in 2016. The teaching and research objects of the laboratory extends to the areas of planning and implementation of public policies, the institutional organization of the state and issues of operation of the political system. The main goal of the Laboratory is the analysis of the produced policy results with emphasis on the phenomenon of reform, through the examination of the human resources and the institutional arrangement of the functions of the state. The fields in which is focused the laboratory is: a) the relationship between the pillars of governance in the domestic & international environment of supply and demand of public policies (government, public administration, parliament, justice, local government structures, etc.), b) the regulatory role of the state in the fields of market operation, environmental protection and public health. c) the organization and operation of the Independent Authorities.
  3. The Center for Political Research and Documentation (KEPET) of the University of Crete. KEPET serves both academic and research needs of the Department of Political Science and other Departments of the University of Crete on issues related to the collection and processing of political data at local, national and European level. The objectives of the laboratory also entail the conduct and elaboration of studies, the collaboration in any form with research centers and academic institutions, the organization of scientific lectures, the provision of services in other institutions, etc.

  4. The Laboratory of Education Policy, Research, Development and Interuniversity Cooperation (ERDIC), of the University of Piraeus, which is founded in 2015. The aim of the laboratory is to become a scientific and valid institute to produce basic and applied research in the above mentioned subjects and also cover educational and research needs of the Hellenic society. The subject of the laboratory is research and study of the trends and the international developments on the sectors of education, research, development and inter-university cooperation.

  5. The Jean Monnet Chair "European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies" (EduTRIP). The Jean Monnet Chair on “European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies”(EduTRIP) is based on the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, Greece, first ranked in student preferences among its peers. The objective of the Chair is the reinforcement of education, research and dialogue on the crucial issues and scientific developments in these areas at both national and European level. The main concern is to create synergies between universities, business, stakeholders and civil society. It is the first Jean Monnet Chair on these issues in Greece and in the wider South East Europe and Mediterranean Area.
