Author Biography
Leonidas Moiras, PhD Candidate, Democritus University of Thrace, Department of History and Ethnology
Leonidas Moiras received his PhD in modern Ottoman history from the Democritus University of Thrace (2019). His research interests include Ottoman political and intellectual history, Young Turk Revolution, Balkan nationalisms, Ottoman westernisation and the Greek Revolution of 1821. He teaches history of the Ottoman Empire (15th–18th centuries) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is author of several articles and publications in collective volumes, including “1839 Gülhane Hattı Humayun’un Yunan Basını’nda Yansınması İstanbul Üniversitesi,” Tarih Dergisi: Turkish Journal of History (forthcoming, 2019), and “Niifus Defteri no 3751 (H.1259),” in Evangelia Balta, ed., Ottoman Chrysochou (mid-19th Century) (Istanbul: Libra, 2019).
