Chrysanthos D. Tassis is Lecturer of Political Sociology and Greek Politics at the Department of Social Policy, Democritus University of Thrace, and a collaborating academic on the staff of the Hellenic Open University. He is co-editor (with Vasilis Asimakopoulos) of the collective volume ΠΑΣΟΚ 1974-2018: Πολιτική οργάνωση – Ιδεολογικές μετατοπίσεις – Κυβερνητικές μεταβολές [Pasok, 1974–2018: political organisation–ideological shifts–governmental policies] (Athens: Gutenberg, 2018. Moreover, he has published (with Kostas Eleftheriou) the book ΠΑΣΟΚ, η άνοδος και η πτώση (;) ενός ηγεμονικού κόμματος [PASOK: the rise and fall (?) of a hegemonic political party] (Athens: Savvalas, 2013); Ευρωπαϊκό σοσιαλιστικό κόμμα: Προκλήσεις και προοπτικές [Party of European Socialists (PES): challenges and future prospects] (Athens, ISTAME, 2001); with Michalis Spourdalakis (ed.), Kostas Botopoulos and Thanasis Xiros, Ευρωπαϊκό σοσιαλιστικό κόμμα: Προκλήσεις και προοπτικές [Party of European Socialists (PES): challenges and future prospects] (Athens: ISTAME, 2001); and with Sotiris Papaioannou (ed.), and Theodore Tsekeris, Regional and Sectoral Efficiency of the Greek Economy: Measurement and Determinants (Athens: KEPE, 2017). His published work in Greek- and English-language journals focuses on the field of political sociology with an emphasis on the relation of political parties to society and the state; on European Social Democracy; on Greek politics; on political economy and labour relations; and on the welfare state. Since 1997, he is a member of the Hellenic Political Studies Association, serving on its central board since 2015. He has been a member of Greek Politics Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association since 2005.
