Author Biography
Krystallia Markaki, Democritus University of Thrace

Krystallia Markaki is a postdoctoral researcher in history at the Democritus University of Thrace and member of the Laboratory for Modern and Contemporary History of the same university. She holds a BA in History and Archeology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MA and a PhD from the Department of Political Science and History of the Panteion University (funded by the State Scholarships Foundation). Her research interests include historical culture, refugeeness, gender, tradition and aesthetics, childhood historicity, public history. Her doctoral dissertation Playing with playthings in the Interwar Era: A cosmopolitan Greekness is forthcoming from Alexandria Publications (2024, in Greek). An article, “Papastrateios School of Toys and Decoration or at the intersection of state welfare, pro-artistic philanthropy and social solidarity” is also forthcoming.
