Church property : from Kant to us

Κώστας Μ. Σταμάτης
Abstract
The huge problem of church and monastic property is a recurrent issue in the political debate. Since the liberation from Ottoman occupation, the problem has not been dealt with decisively upon a principled basis by state authority in Greece. The article intends to set the terms for the whole question, in order to suggest some basic principles for a reformative legal and political initiative on the issue. The Kantian legal and political philosophy seems a promising framework of thought, given that it includes a radical insight over the question, in harmony with central features of the modern constitutional State.
