The military dictatorship of 1967 as a rupture for greek mass media

Abstract
The route towards the emergence of television as a mass medium and the gradual undermining of the print media, mostly of newspapers-enmeshed in a crisis that will reappear acutely and with an irreversible manner years later, along with the appearance and, later on, the un-folding of the society of consumption and advertising, probably were among the major repercussions of the military dictatorship of April the 21st, 1967, besides the radical change in the up to then prevalent political frame. All these, along with the establishment of the money/cash nexus and the emergence of cultural baseness, constituted the specific rupture, legacy of the military dictatorship, sealing-to a significant degree, the ensuing years, even until our own days.
