Abstract
The current expression of anti-Americanism by Greek right-wing parties can be interpreted as an ideological consequence of the end of the Cold War. Since the mid 1990 s the pro- American legacy of the Greek Right has been eliminated along with the adoption of a defensive attitude as far as the role of Greece in the post bipolar world is concerned. This tendency coexists with a systematic effort of the Right to integrate a series of elements that traditionally characterize the political identity of the Left, such as anti-imperialism and antiglobalization attitude. However, the absence of a coherent theoretical background leads to inconsistencies. This paper focuses on the level of mass communication and of political discourse in order to describe the basic concepts that construe post-cold war anti- Americanism.
