Abstract
The purpose of this article is to examine the strategy of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in connection with its electoral tactics at the local elections. Emphasis is placed on the 2010 elections, when the party promoted the electoral tactics of “Laiki Syspeirosi” (Popular Bloc). It will be argued that the latter is fully integrated into the overall design of PAME (All Workers’ Militant Front), which, among other things, includes the organizational transformation of the Communist Party on a sectoral/professional basis. The gradual decline of local branches as the party’s basic organizational unit, marks a change in KKE’s perception of local government.
