  • The Article does not in any way violate intellectual property rights of third parties. Wherever permission is required, I have obtained it from the copyright holder.

  • I have read and I accept the Copyright Policy and have prepared the manuscript according to the Author Guidelines of the Journal.

  • I retain ownership and/or right‐holder of all rights under copyright in the Article, and all rights not expressly granted in this Agreement.

Articles for consideration must be submitted in *.docx form. Illustrations must be submitted separately in *.jpg form.

All references must be given in footnotes. All footnotes are numbered in continuous order. Tables, photos, plates and graphics are clearly numbered, and placed separately at the end of the text.

References to BOOKS

  • The title is italicized.
  • Abbreviations of volume(s) and issue(s) should be made thus: vol. VIII.2
  • Place(s) and year of publication should be used subsequently: Athens 2001. Roma 2000. Thessaloniki 1997.
  • Publishers’ names are omitted.
  • Number of edition(s) are superscripted above the end character of the place: New York3.

References to ARTICLES IN PERIODICALS

  • The title of the article should be given in full, roman type (non-italicized), within single inverted commas.
  • The title of the journal is italicized.
  • Number(s) of volumes and issues should be made thus: O Eranistis 8 (1969); Ta Historica 7.11 (1990).

References to CHAPTERS IN EDITED VOLUMES

  • The title of the chapter should be given in full, roman type (non-italicized), within single inverted commas.
  • The title of the edited volume is italicized.
  • The name(s) of editor(s) should be made thus: Gelina Harlaftis (ed.), Ιστορία και Ναυτιλία.

 

References to PUBLICATIONS IN GREEK

  • Author(s)’ names and titles of journals should be transliterated, while titles of books should be given in Greek characters. Greek titles should be translated into English (or any other major European language, in which the submission is written). Places of publication and other information should be in English.

GENERAL

  • Titles of books and articles should be given in full on first reference, preceded by the author’s personal name and surname.
  • For subsequent references to the same book the author’s surname without initials and the title of the work, abbreviated if necessary, should be used subsequently.
  • Titles of primary sources in subsequent references should be abbreviated thus: Archivio di Stato di Venezia (hereafter: ASV), Archivio Secreto Vaticano (hereafter: ASVa), Logios Hermes (hereafter: L.H.).
  • Pages number(s) should be separated from the titles with a comma, followed by a (always single) p.
  • References to footnotes and/or exluding page(s) should be abbreviated thus: p. 31 and fn. 56, or p. 31 (fn. 56).
  • Op.cit. (in roman type, if it refers to a BOOK; in italic type, if it refers to an ARTICLE or to a CHAPTER IN EDITED VOLUME), preceded by the surname of the author, should be used only if the work has been cited in the immediately preceding footnote.
  • Citations in the same footnote are separated by an asterisk (·).
  • For references to the same author use Ibidem. (italicized).
  • Superscript footnote numbers in the text should be placed before punctuation points.
