Brucellosis, abortion cause, in sheep and goats in Northern Greece
Abstract
This research was carried out during the years 1968-1973 to find out the percentage of brucellosis in the whole number of sheep and goats abortions in Northern Greece. For this purpose the authors examined using the microscope and the cultures on suitable media 558 fetuses and by slow agglutination 35.000 samples from blood serum. The following results were obtained : Aborted fetuses : In 205 cases, that is 36.7% Brucella melitensis was isolated. Sera : In 12.860 samples from flocks where brucellic abortions were recently observed the percentages of positive and suspicious reactions were respectively 51.2 and 7.3 In 22.140 samples from different flocks the percentages of positive and suspicious reactions were respectively 11.3 and 8.2
