Etymological idioms of Macedonian districts
Abstract
An attempt is made in this work to etymologize 47 wholly idiomatic words originating from Macedonian villages and especially from mountain areas of Pieria and Voio. Tne collection of the words was realized during special missions in tne above mentioned districts, in the frame of a programme, by the Linguistic Department of the Society of Macedonian Studies, for the collection of idiomatic lingual material of Macedonian districts. Except of those words, there are some more taken from glossaries of other collectors, their origin from various Macedonian districts, and some of the private collection of the author from Velvendos of Kozani.
