Theodoros Tetragonites, a soldier from Stroumnitsa to Platamonas
Abstract
A certain Theodoros Tetragonites is referred on an inscription of the year 1334 from the walls of the Byzantine fortified town of Platamonas in Southern Macedonia.
Tetragonites were a well-known family in Strumnitsa, Northern Macedo nia, during 13th to 15th century.
Theodoros of the inscription must be identified with a Sevastos Atratiotes who lived in Strumnitsa between 1286 and 1310. He must have moved to Pla tamonas as the new castrophylax of the town just after the Serbian occupation of Northern Macedonia in 1334.
