Abstract
The cinematic representation of students in international and Greek literature can be characterized as stereotypical, constructed by adults, disconnected, at least partially, from reality, while excluding issues that concern real students and their parents (school education), as well as certain categories of students (e.g., students in adverse living conditions, non-urban socio-economic environments, with health problems, etc.). Considering that the above position is not fully clarified and sufficient, this theoretical study seeks to map the cinematic image of the student and their integration into the school environment by exploring those points not addressed in international and Greek literature. It also acknowledges that every mapping is nothing but a completely subjective proposal for interpreting an unexplored space. With this perspective, the student is mapped comprehensively through a representative sample of Greek cinema films (classic and contemporary), in order to present the social and political situations faced by the student role within the educational institution framework, and simultaneously to reveal their gender role.
