Abstract

This article investigates the historical and philosophical dialogue between Indian and European traditions, arguing that the history of philosophy is a cross-cultural fermentation of ideas rather than a single national narrative. The author explores timeless ontological questions regarding existence and essence, highlighting striking parallels between Ancient Greek and Indian cosmogonies. A significant portion of the study focuses on the "chariot allegory" found in both Plato's Phaedrus and the Katha Upanishad, using this as a case study for conceptual convergence. Furthermore, the paper addresses the problematic legacy of "Orientalism" and the intellectual suppression of Eastern thought by European academia. The study concludes by advocating for a more inclusive "Global Philosophy" that recognizes the mutual influences between these two major civilizations.
