LATE MIOCENE CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSIL STRATIGRAPHY AND BIOEVENTS CORRELATION: KALIDONIA CASE SECTION (NW CRETE, GREECE)

Τα ασβεστολιθικά ναννοαπολιθώματα χρησιμοποιούνται ευρέως για βιοστρωματογραφικούς συσχετισμούς. Η καλύτερη κατανόηση των βιογεγονότων βελτιώνεται με τη χρήση ποσοτικών δεδομένων. Μελετήθηκαν οι αποθέσεις της ιζηματογενούς λεκάνης Καλυδώνια στην τυπική της τομή, με σκοπό τη λεπτομερέστερη στρωματογραφία του ανώτερου Μειόκαινου της ΒΑ Κρήτης. Προσδιορίστηκε το όριο του Τορτονίου/ Μεσσηνίου με τη χρήση των βιοζωνών NNlla & NNllß, CN9a & CN9b, MNNlla & MNNllb. Επιπρόσθετα σημαντικοί βιοορίζοντες που βελτιώνουν τη στρωματογραφική εξέλιξη της μελετηθείσας παλαιολεκάνης και παρέχουν ένα ισχυρό βιοχρονολογικό πλαίσιο, αποδείχθηκαν η αρχή της παρακμής της Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilicus (PB) και η πρώτη παρουσία της R. rotaria (FO). Η τυπική τομή Καλυδώνια περιλαμβάνει θαλάσσια ιζήματα ενός αδιατάρακτου ιζηματογενούς κύκλου που καλύπτει απόθεση από το ανώτερο Τορτόνιο έως και το ανώτερο Μεσσήνιο, όπου κύρια φάσεις βαθιάς θάλασσας, ακολουθούνται από μεταβατικές φάσεις ιζημάτων, ενώ η ακολουθία ολοκληρώνεται στην κορυφή της τομής με υφαλογόνες-βιοκλαστικές φάσεις που σχετίζονται με τους επονομαζόμενους 'Ασβεστόλιθους Βάσης' της Ιταλίας και προσδιορίζουν και την έναρξη της 'Κρίσης Αλμυρότητας του Μεσσηνίου.
