Περίληψη

Η είσοδος της υπερηχοτομογραφίας στη διαγνωστική κτηνιατρική των παραγωγικών ζώων πραγματοποιήθηκεστα μέσα του 1960, μία περίπου δεκαετία μετά την εφαρμογή της στην ιατρική. Οι πρώτες εφαρμογές αφορούσαν στηνπροσέγγιση περιστατικών που σχετίζονταν με το γεννητικό σύστημα του προβάτου. Με την πάροδο του χρόνου και τηδιερεύνηση νέων εφαρμογών η χρήση της στα παραγωγικά ζώα εντάθηκε. Στην κλινική πράξη των παραγωγικών ζώων χρησιμοποιούνταικυρίως συσκευές τύπου B-mode, απλής και κυρτωμένης γραμμικής διάταξης, με συχνότητες από 3.0 μέχρι και 7.5MHz, ενώ σπανιότερα χρησιμοποιούνται κεφάλες μηχανικού τύπου. Βασικές προϋποθέσεις για τη χρήση της υπερηχοτομογραφίαςείναι η καλή γνώση της ανατομίας της περιοχής που επιθυμούμε να εξετάσουμε, η σωστή συγκράτηση του ζώου και η καλήπροκαταρκτική κλινική εξέταση. Στο αναπνευστικό σύστημα των μηρυκαστικών η υπερηχοτομογραφία χρησιμοποιείται γιατην εκτίμηση της γενικής κατάστασης της θωρακικής κοιλότητας, με κύριες εφαρμογές το πνευμονικό εμφύσημα, τη βρογχοπνευμονία και την εισροφητική πνευμονία. Στο καρδιοαγγειακό η υπερηχοτομογραφία συμβάλλει αποτελεσματικά στηνεξέταση της καρδιάς και των αγγείων του σώματος και επιπρόσθετα χάρη στην τεχνολογία του Doppler μπορούμε ναεκτιμήσουμε καλύτερα αιματολογικές παραμέτρους. Η χρήση της υπερηχοτομογραφίας στις παθήσεις του πεπτικού συστήματοςκαι γενικότερα της περιτοναϊκής κοιλότητας των μηρυκαστικών ζώων διαδόθηκε ευρύτατα τις δύο τελευταίες δεκαετίες, προσφέρονταςένα αποτελεσματικό απεικονιστικό μέσο για τον άμεσο έλεγχο των οργάνων της σε παθήσεις όπως η τραυματικήκεκρυφαλοπεριτονίτιδα και η διάταση του τυφλού. Η υπερηχοτομογραφική εξέταση του ήπατος, της σπλήνας και του παγκρέατος,των βοοειδών κατά κύριο λόγο, είναι άμεση και μας δίνει τη δυνατότητα να εκτιμήσουμε αλλαγές στο μέγεθος, το σχήμα καιτη θέση των οργάνων αυτών. Αλλαγές στην ηχογένειά τους είναι τις περισσότερες φορές ενδεικτικές της ύπαρξης αλλοιώσεων.Στα νεογέννητα μοσχάρια η εκτίμηση της κατάστασης του ομφαλού υπερηχοτομογραφικά, κατά την πρώτη εβδομάδα τηςζωής τους, συνέβαλε στην καλύτερη αντιμετώπιση καταστάσεων όπως η ομφαλοφλεβίτιδα, η ομφαλοαρτηρίτιδα και η ομφαλοουραχίτιδα. Στο ουροποιητικό σύστημα των μηρυκαστικών ζώων η υπερηχοτομογραφία χρησιμοποιείται για την προσέγγισηπεριπτώσεων ουρολιθιάσεων κατά μήκος της εκφορητικής μοίρας, καθώς και σε περιστατικά ρήξεων και παρουσίας μαζών.Η εφαρμογή της υπερηχοτομογραφίας στο μυοσκελετικό σύστημα των βοοειδών, του οποίου η μελέτη εντάθηκε από τα μέσατης δεκαετίας του '90, προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα για καλύτερη απεικόνιση, σε σχέση με την ακτινογραφία, των αρθρώσεωνπου καλύπτονται από μεγάλες μυϊκές μάζες. Η ανατομία και η ιστική λειτουργία μπορούν να εκτιμηθούν σε πραγματικό χρόνοκαι να αξιολογηθεί καλύτερα η κατάσταση της υγείας του ζώου. Νέες εφαρμογές της υπερηχοτομογραφίας που μελετώνταιαφορούν στη λειτουργία διαφόρων οργάνων, όπως το ήνυστρο των νεογέννητων, τα λεμφογάγγλια και τους οφθαλμούς. Ηυπερηχοτομογραφία αποτελεί ένα ιδιαίτερα αποτελεσματικό απεικονιστικό μέσο στα χέρια του κλινικού κτηνιάτρου, πουπροσφέρει τη δυνατότητα δυναμικής αποτίμησης της εξεταζόμενης περιοχής στα μηρυκαστικά ζώα, δίχως να αντικαθιστά τηνκλινική εξέταση, αλλά δρώντας συμπληρωματικά προς αυτήν.
