Abstract

The text highlights the significant renewal of historiography on the Greek Revolution through the use of new sources and fresh interpretative approaches. It highlights the value of a multidimensional approach that incorporates social, ideological, and everyday aspects of the period. It also underlines the need to move beyond entrenched myths and to treat historical figures with a more nuanced and human perspective. Particular attention is given to the integration of these new insights into school teaching. The author argues that educators should possess strong historical training and be granted the autonomy to choose appropriate teaching
materials. Ultimately, the primary aim of history education is to foster students’ capacity for historical reasoning and critical thinking.
