Abstract

This article refers to the process of creating the educational documentary «Εφηβ[ί]α» ("Efiv[i]a"), which was created in the context of the course "Development of Digital Audiovisual Material", taught by Mr Sofos Alivizos. The subject of the documentary concerns juvenile violence and is intended for educational use in the teaching of the course of "Social and Civic Education" of the third grade, with the aim of cultivating reflection and awareness of students regarding the phenomenon of juvenile violence. The content of the documentary covers different forms of violence, such as physical, verbal, psychological, sexual violence, cyberbullying etc. In Greece, juvenile violence is mainly of low and medium intensity, but after the pandemic there has been an increase in incidents and a decrease in the age at which minors are involved in violent offences. The family plays an important role, particularly in cases where there are serious psychological problems or addictions. Incidents of violence are concentrated in urban areas, where the lack of social cohesion and the impulsiveness of adolescents exacerbate the phenomenon. Through expert interviews, dramatization and audiovisual media, the documentary seeks to highlight the causes of violence, the social structures that reinforce it and possible solutions to prevent the phenomenon.
