Peer Review & Editorial Process

Scope and standards
Health and Research Journal publishes original research, reviews, and other scholarly contributions in the fields of health sciences and healthcare.

Initial screening (Editorial check)
All submissions undergo an initial assessment by the Editorial Office/Handling Editor to verify:

  • fit with the journal’s scope,

  • completeness of required documents and statements (e.g., ethics approval where applicable, conflicts of interest, funding),

  • basic methodological and reporting adequacy, and

  • compliance with journal policies (including research integrity and publication ethics).
Submissions may be returned to authors for technical corrections or rejected at this stage if they are out of scope or do not meet minimum standards.

Peer review model
The journal operates a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers do not receive author-identifying information, and authors do not receive reviewer-identifying information.

Reviewer selection
Manuscripts are typically evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The journal aims to avoid conflicts of interest and may replace reviewers if a potential conflict is identified.

Editorial decisions
Based on reviewers’ reports and the editor’s assessment, the journal may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept

  • Minor revision

  • Major revision

  • Reject
Authors are expected to address all reviewer comments point-by-point and highlight changes in the revised manuscript.

Timelines
The journal strives to provide timely decisions. Indicative timelines:

  • First editorial screening: 5–10 days

  • First decision after peer review: 6–10 weeks
Timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability and revision rounds.

Appeals and complaints
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a reasoned request to the Editorial Office. Appeals are assessed by a senior editor who was not directly involved in the original decision, where feasible. Complaints related to the editorial process or publication ethics will be handled in line with journal policies.

Corrections and retractions
The journal may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
