This article provides a critical examination of Karl Popper’s critique of Karl Marx, focusing primarily on the second volume of The Open Society and Its Enemies. The author explores Popper's systematic deconstruction of Marxian "historicism" and the economic "prophecies" concerning the collapse of capitalism and the inevitable rise of socialism. The paper analyzes Popper's distinction between scientific "prediction" and historicist "prophecy," highlighting how Marx’s failure to account for state interventionism and social reform led to the inaccuracy of his deterministic model. Ultimately, the study illustrates how Popper identifies the internal contradictions of Marxism and argues for "piecemeal social engineering" over revolutionary "Utopian" transitions.
