Volume VIII, Issue 1 / October 2025 of the Greek Journal of Religious Education (GjRE)
The new issue of the Greek Journal of Religious Education (GjRE) includes six scientific articles, which cover a wide range of research related to Religious Education. The first research highlights that effective mentoring in internships is based on guiding and reflective approaches. This approach enhances the autonomy, feedback, and professional development of prospective teachers. The next article presents the results of a survey in which graduates of the Department of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens evaluate their studies. The third study is related to preschool education and future kindergarten teachers. It looks closely at teaching methods for creating and using lesson plans for Easter, providing information to improve the training programs for new teachers. Then, based on Foucault's theory, the way in which Religious Education shapes “normalized” religious subjects through discipline and surveillance is analyzed. In this context, the fourth study proposes more democratic, participatory, and pedagogical forms of resistance and reflection. The next article examines the views of theologian teachers and students regarding the distance teaching of the Course of Religion during the pandemic. The research argues that the use of digital tools in a pedagogical way enhanced student interest and cultivated creativity without neglecting the quality of learning. The latest study explores the broad context and dynamic contribution of the Course of Religious Education to the integration of students with a migrant background, e.g., second-generation immigrants in secondary education. At the same time, it ascertains the role of Religious Education in the required development of respect, solidarity, and tolerance.
The issue features three speeches from the conference that the Panhellenic Theological Association “KAIROS for the upgrading of Religious Education” organized for the feast of the Three Hierarchs in 2025. The texts refer to the 15 years of “KAIROS’” presence in the public discourse in Greece. Finally, every issue includes correspondence from important theological and educational conferences held in 2025.
