Περίληψη

Οι μολύνσεις χου γαστρεντερικου σωλήνα στο σκύλο και τη γάτα από νηματώδεις (Toxocara spp., Toxascarisleonina, Angylostoma spp., Uncinarla spp., Trichuris vulpis) ή κεστώδεις (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus spp.) έλμινθες είναι συχνές στην κλινική πράξη. Η σημασία των παρασιτώσεων αυτών, όχι μόνο για την υγεία των ζώων, αλλά και για τη δημόσια υγεία (Toxocara spp., Angylostoma spp., Uncinarla spp., Echinococcus spp.), επιβάλλουν την όσο το δυνατόν καλύτερη φαρμακευτική αντιμετώπιση τους. Από τις αποτελεσματικές και ασφαλείς ανθελμινθικές ουσίες που κυκλοφορούν σήμερα στην ελληνική αγορά, οι βενζιμιδαζόλες, οι μακροκυκλικές λακτόνες, οι τετραϋδροπυριμιδίνες και οι ισοκινολόνες χρησιμοποιούνται συχνότερα. Στα κουτάβια και τα γατάκια κατά κύριο λόγο, αλλά και στις σκυλες/γάτες που κυοφορούν ή γαλουχούν, εφαρμόζονται εντατικότερα ανθελμινθικά προγράμματα, λόγω της συχνότερης έκθεσης τους στις παρασιτικές μολύνσεις. Η ανθελμινθική αγωγή στα κουτάβια και τα γατάκια αρχίζει τη 2η ή 3η εβδομάδα της ζωής τους, συνεχίζεται σε δεκαπενθήμερα διαστήματα μέχρι τη 12η εβδομάδα και ολοκληρώνεται με μηνιαίες χορηγήσεις στην ηλικία των 6 μηνών. Στις γαλουχούσες σκύλες και γάτες πρέπει να εφαρμόζεται ανάλογη ανθελμινθική αγωγή, επειδή συχνά μολύνονται κατά την περίοδο αυτή. Μετά την ηλικία των 6 μηνών, η ανθελμινθική αγωγή θα πρέπει να επαναλαμβάνεται 2-4 φορές το χρόνο, κατά προτίμηση με βάση το αποτέλεσμα της παρασιτολογικής εξέτασης των κοπράνων. Σε σκύλους στους οποίους χορηγούνται μακροκυκλικές λακτόνες για την πρόληψη της διροφιλαρίωσης, η ανθελμινθική αγωγή θα πρέπει να συμπληρώνεται με κεστωδοκτόνες και ανάλογα με το ανθελμινθικό φάσμα των πρώτων, νηματωδοκτόνες ουσίες.
