THE LOCAL ECONOMIC NETWORKS OF THE ARMED PERSECUTED FIGHTERS GROUPS (OEKA) AS AN EARLY STAGE OF THE DEMOCRATIC ARMY OF GREECE
Abstract
The article examines the formation, action, and above all, the economic function, and economic relations, of the Armed Persecuted Fighter Groups, at the ‘‘dawn’’ of the Greek Civil War. The Groups of Armed Persecuted Fighters were the first attempt to organize an armed resistance, against the state and parastate persecutions, of the period: 1945-1946, and were the ‘‘raw material’’ of the Democratic Army of Greece. In this article, an at¬tempt is made to record the Groups, which developed nationwide, to list elements of their action, and their relationship with their wider economic area, while an attempt is also made to outline their gradual transition, from unconnected groups, of rebels attempting to defend themselves, into a united guerrilla military force, which would claim power in Greece.
