Abstract

The purpose of the present paper is to study complementary Distance Education (DE) in remedial teaching of mathematics using educational software through the platform e-class of the Greek School Network (GSN) and educational game of mathematics Volcanic Riddles. For the achievement of this goal, an intervention took place using the electronic environment in parallel with the classroom education, in a high school of Prefecture of Halkidiki, Greece. The intervention has been organized in order to investigate the students reactions (attitudes) towards mathematics in supporting teaching to the distance electronic environment, the impact of e-class and the game to these attitudes, the attitudes towards e-class, game and DE. All students responded to questionnaires concerning their attitude towards mathematics before and after the intervention. The students participating in the e-class and the game responded after intervention questionnaire was the presentation of mathematical concepts and DE and students without activity questionnaire in relation to DE and obstacles of its implementation. According to the main results of the study, the attitudes of the students have been changed after the intervention. DE activities support the understanding of the concepts and increased their desire to attend DE courses.
