Abstract

The educational fiction short film “Alone on the road” is about the children that are gone missing for no obvious reason, for example while playing or while moving from one location to another. Its target group are children 4-8 years old that attend kindergarten and the first two grades (1st and 2nd) of primary school. This age group was selected due to its particular vulnerability to being reported missing. Moreover, the type of fiction film was selected due to the particular developmental characteristics of this group. Children from 4-8 years need to experience a simulation of an incident of a child gone missing, so that they can process it, identify with the main character, reflect and elaborate their own ideas. The film is accompanied with explicit instructions for the educators, with educational activities and supplementary educational resources, based on the content of the film, turning the film “Alone on the road” to a completed, fully featured educational resource.
