Giordano Bruno

Giordano Bruno is the official journal of the Marsilio Ficino Academy of Humanist Studies. The journal focuses on themes related to the Renaissance ideal of the homo universalis. Within this framework, we welcome articles that engage with contemporary developments in science, art, and technology; address methodological questions; or explore historical and cultural issues of the Renaissance period.

The journal Giordano Bruno, from its very first issue, is characterized by interdisciplinarity and a turn toward the periods of Ancient Greece and the Renaissance, which form the guiding axes of the activities of the Academy of Humanistic Studies Marsilio Ficino, the institution that founded it.

Issue 1 addresses topics concerning Ancient Greek literature (On the Sublime by Longinus, Heraclidae by Euripides, Works and Days by Hesiod), the period of Humanism (literary theory in Italian Humanism), the Renaissance (the conflict between Platonists and Aristotelians and the influence of Stoicism), modern philosophy (Bertrand Russell and Feyerabend), the convergence of Digital Humanities and Cultural Informatics, a reflection on nature, determinism, and randomness, and concludes with a presentation of the open universe of Giordano Bruno.

Το Περιοδικό Giordano Bruno ήδη από το 1^ο τεύχος χαρακτηρίζεται από τη διαθεματικότητα και τη στροφή στις περιόδους της Αρχαίας Ελλάδας και της Αναγέννησης που αποτελούν κατευθυντήριους άξονες των δραστηριοτήτων της Ακαδημίας Ουμανιστικών Μελετών Marsilio Ficino η οποία το έχει ιδρύσει.

Στο Τεύχος 1 θίγονται ζητήματα που αφορούν την Αρχαία Ελληνική Γραμματεία (Περί Ύψους του Λογγίνου, Ηρακλείδες του Ευριπίδη, Έργα και Ημέραι του Ησιόδου), την περίοδο του Ουμανισμού (Λογοτεχνική θεωρία στον Ιταλικό Ουμανισμό), την περίοδο της Αναγέννησης (σύγκρουση πλατωνιστών και αριστοτελιστών και στωική είσδυση), τη σύγχρονη φιλοσοφία (Bertrand Russell και Feyerabend), τη σύγκλιση των Ψηφιακών Ανθρωπιστικών Σπουδών και της Πολιτισμικής Πληροφορικής, ένα στοχασμό για τη φύση, τον ντετερμινισμό και την τυχαιότητα και κλείνει με μια παρουσίαση του ανοικτού σύμπαντος του Giordano Bruno.
