Abstract

Probability is a field of mathematics that has a direct impact on people's daily lives, as it is associated with the ability to make decisions in situations of uncertainty. This is a functional skill that is crucial for achieving independence and integration into society. This research aims to study students with moderate intellectual disabilities' ability to understand fundamental probabilistic concepts. Data were collected using a structured interview method. According to the study's results, students with moderate intellectual disabilities can identify the most probable outcome of a random experiment, as well as the probabilistic situation most likely to have the desired outcome. They can also justify their choices quantitatively. These findings can inform the integration of probability into their education and provide a foundation for the development of teaching activities that promote probabilistic reasoning.
