The application of innovations to the school unit by training executives: Overview and development

Abstract

This paper is about the implementation of innovations to the school unit by training executives, namely reference to the catalytic role brought by the Director as regards the introduction of innovative actions and programs. Initially, the conceptual approach to educational innovation is set up and then the review and development of innovations that have been implemented in the Greek Educational System until today. More detailed, European Educational Programs, Interdisciplinary Programs, as well as innovative actions contributing to the upgrading of school units. Finally, the impact of the Director – leader is thoroughly presented, which through its cognitive, organizational and guiding capabilities, but also from the vision and values ​​brought within the school unit, directly affects the implementation and evolution of innovation in the education system.
