Abstract

This study explores the development of juvenile rehabilitation in Greece and the United States during the critical period of 1946-1952, primarily through the insightful journey and observations of Elias Bogdanopoulos. Within the context of post-World War II reconstruction and social change, Bogdanopoulos embarked on a research mission to study various juvenile rehabilitation institutions. His encounters and insights shed light on the principles and practices of youth rehabilitation during this era. His detailed observations revealed common characteristics, such as the involvement of mental health professionals, individualized assessments, the role of clergy, and a shared commitment to rehabilitation and community reintegration.
