„Liebe Freundin Melpo …“. Zum Verhältnis von Melpo Axioti und Anna Seghers: unveröffentlichte Briefe
Der Aufsatz untersucht das Verhältnis von Melpo Axioti und Anna Seghers anhand von unveröffentlichten Briefen, die sich im Archiv Akademie der Künste in Berlin befinden, ergänzt durch Materialien aus dem Anna-Seghers-Museum (Berlin). Der Aufsatz beschreibt zunächst die bereits in der Forschung dokumentierte Bekanntschaft der beiden Schriftstellerinnen in Paris im Jahr 1949, fokussiert jedoch auf die unerforschten Jahre des Ostberliner Exils von Axioti (1950-1952 und 1957-1964), in denen die Beziehung der beiden Autorinnen intensiver wurde, aber auch auf die letzten Lebensjahre Axiotis nach ihrer Repatriierung in Griechenland (1964-1973). Die Briefe, die die beiden Frauen in diesem Zeitraum wechseln, sind ein wichtiges Zeugnis für das Netz von Schriftsteller*innen in der Zeit des Kalten Krieges mit Schwerpunkt die griechischen exilierten Autoren wie Axioti. Zugleich dokumentieren sie die großen Schwierigkeiten, mit denen die Repatriierten in ihren Heimatländern konfrontiert werden. Beeindruckend ist dabei, wie die Dokumente zeigen, die Bereitschaft von Anna Seghers, der griechischen Freundin Melpo Axioti Hilfe zu leisten.
