Abstract

The general objective of this article is the investigation and interpretation of the short fiction educational film "The thread, -talk using your silence-" created for the purposes of the course "Development of Digital Audiovisual Material" (supervising teacher: Sofos Alivizos). This particular fiction film, which also includes documentary elements, as well as its educational utilization approach the gaming addiction through the sketching of the daily life of the hero. At the same time though the main symptoms of the addiction are presented, as well as statistical data that have been drawn from scientific studies in collaboration with the scientific team of KETHEA. This is a phenomenon that has become more and more widespread in recent years with research showing alarming evidence of the impact on young people. Easy access to the Internet and excessive use among teenagers have raised concerns who have been rising over recent years. The aim of the film and the activities proposed are to inform, raise awareness and make the young people think seriously about internet addiction and in particular gaming addiction.
