Abstract
The eight domed churches with lateral niches, which were constructed on Mount Pelion during the Late Ottoman period, all belong to the type of the condensed Athonite church. They are all katholika of monasteries of small size and they were built during the period from 1775 to 1818, when the region was flourishing. The present article attempts to follow the emergence of this specific Athonite type and to determine the reason this variation appears on Pelion during the specific period.
