Abstract
The half ruined church of Gortys, which retains the name of the founder of the Cretan Church Apostle Titus, has been the subject of scolarly discussion for more than a century. A preliminary excavation in 2010, the re-examination of its sculptural decoration, but most of all the systematic research of the years 2013-2015 during conservation and restoration, have revealed new evidence on the construction history of the building. This is a preliminary report of the results shedding new light on older queries.
