The wall-paintings of the church of Saint Nicholas at Vatos, Agios Vasileios province, Rethymnon. Contribution to the study of artistic workshops in venetian Crete

Abstract
The wall-paintings at the church of Saint Nicholas at Vatos, Rethymno, Crete, are attributed to the collaboration of two painters that follow distinct artistic traditions. One of them seems to be member of a workshop that executed a series of wall-paintings in the regions of Rethymno and Chania. The meticulous examination of the paintings leads to assumptions on the working methods of the painters and enlightens the (mostly unknown) local artistic production of the third quarter of the 14th century.
